Editorial Standards & Disclosures

The Impartial Lens exists to make complex markets clearer. These standards explain how we research, write, correct and disclose our work.

Effective August 20, 2026

Our editorial promise

We aim to provide independent, evidence-led market commentary without hype, tribal politics or false certainty. Our goal is not to tell readers what they want to hear. It is to identify the forces shaping markets, explain why they matter and make clear where facts end and interpretation begins.

Speed never excuses avoidable inaccuracy. When information is uncertain, incomplete or developing, we try to say so plainly.

How we work

Every article should help readers distinguish observable information from analysis.

Evidence before narrative

We begin with market data, public records, company materials, official releases and credible reporting.

Facts versus commentary

We separate what happened from our interpretation of why it happened or what may follow.

Context over sensation

We avoid presenting ordinary volatility as catastrophe or uncertain forecasts as established fact.

Plain English

We explain technical ideas clearly without removing the uncertainty or complexity that matters.

Sources and attribution

We prefer primary sources whenever practical, including government data, central-bank releases, regulatory filings, company disclosures and direct statements. We may also use established data services, research publications and reputable reporting.

  • Important claims should be supported by identifiable evidence.
  • Charts and statistics should name or link to their underlying source where practical.
  • Direct quotations should be attributed and presented in context.
  • Anonymous or unverified claims should be treated with appropriate caution.
Market data changes quickly. Prices, yields and probabilities may have moved by the time an article is read. Time-sensitive figures should be understood in the context of their publication time.

Corrections and updates

When we discover a material factual error, we aim to correct it promptly and transparently. Significant corrections should be noted within the article. Minor spelling, formatting or clarity edits may be made without a separate notice when they do not change the substance.

Developing stories may be updated as reliable new information becomes available. An update is not the same as a correction unless the earlier information was materially wrong.

Readers can report a possible error through our Contact page. Please include the article title, the disputed passage and any supporting source.

Conflicts and personal holdings

The Impartial Lens is independently operated. Its operators, writers or contributors may hold investments or economic interests related to subjects discussed in our coverage.

When a holding or relationship creates a material conflict that a reasonable reader would want to know, we aim to disclose it in or near the relevant article. A disclosure does not convert commentary into personalized advice or a recommendation.

Editorial conclusions are not for sale. Commercial relationships should not determine our analysis or prevent criticism.

Sponsorships and affiliate links

Sponsored material, paid partnerships and advertisements will be clearly labeled. Sponsors may not purchase favorable editorial conclusions or approval of their claims.

If we use an affiliate link that may generate compensation, we will disclose that relationship where the link or recommendation appears. Compensation does not increase the price paid by the reader unless explicitly stated.

Technology and AI assistance

We may use software and artificial-intelligence tools to assist with research organization, transcription, drafting, editing, data presentation or production. These tools do not replace editorial responsibility.

Human operators remain responsible for reviewing published work, checking material claims and deciding what appears under The Impartial Lens name. AI-generated output is not treated as a reliable source by itself.

Educational content—not personalized advice

The Impartial Lens publishes general market commentary and educational information. We are not acting as your investment adviser, broker, lawyer, accountant or tax professional. Nothing we publish is a personalized recommendation or guarantee of future results.

Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal. Readers are responsible for their own research and decisions and should consult appropriately qualified professionals about their circumstances.
